From Cuttack, Congress has named former minister Suresh Mohapatra. The Congress has named Barabati-Cuttack MLA Md Moquim's daughter Sofia Firdous in his palce. Monalisa Lenka has been named from Balasore and former MLA Debi Prasad Chand from Jaleswar assembly seats. Ajay Samal from Badachana, Dakir Samal from Pallhara and Pratima Mallick from Jagatsinghpur assembly seats have been nominated. While Pramod Kumar Hembram will fight the elections from Baripada assembly seat in place of Badal Hembram, Baijayantimala Mohanty will contest from Khandapara, replacing Manoj Kumar Pradhan.

A first information report (FIR) has been registered against Akash Anand, national co-ordinator of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Sitapur. The FIR is in connection with Akash Anand allegedly inciting violence and using inflammatory language in his speech. BJP president J P Nadda on Sunday asked if West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wants to win the Lok Sabha elections by scaring and threatening people as he hit out at her government over the seizure of arms and ammunition by the CBI in Sandeshkhali. "Will Mamata Banerjee win the polls by scaring and threatening people? It is a grave mistake if she thinks she can win elections by this."

In a letter to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday, Lovely said he is unable to continue as the president of the Delhi party unit.

Reports suggest that the Congress may announce Rahul Gandhi as its candidate from Amethi today. The Uttar Pradesh Congress on Saturday urged the top party leadership to field Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from Amethi and Raebareli, respectively for the Lok Sabha polls, but no decision was taken at the meeting of the central election committee (CEC).

Congress leaders on the ground feel that the delay in announcing Rahul's name was a part of the political strategy in order to not confuse the voters in Wayanad.

More than 4,000 warrants have been executed, and preventive proceedings have been launched against 30,000 people. Around 10,000 people have been bound down under relevant provisions of law. We have also had interstate cooperation meetings with Jharkhand and West Bengal administrations. We hope to have an impartial, free and peaceful election," said Odisha DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi.
